Hello all

I have been a Deist for a few years now and have good grasp about the philosophy. I just have one small, possible silly question. When someone sneezes do you say God Bless You or something else. I myself have said the latter, just because i dont want to be rude and not say anything at all, and its just out of habit.

Any feedback would be great.....Thanks

Although I wouldn't expect

Although I wouldn't expect G*D to literally bestow a special blessing on someone just on my say-so, I don't have any scruple against using the conventional, traditional expression. In most cases, it's just a polite custom, not a fervent prayer for divine intervention.

Usually I just say, "bless you!" But if even that is too theologically sensitive, how about, "gesundheit!". It literally means, "soundness" or "wholeness, in the sense of, "good health!" Or you could just do as my Mother did when her children sneezed. She would say, "ketchum!"---whatever that meant. Smile

I had friend once who said blesh you as oppose to bless you. he was an atheist/agnostic my self would go more with just Bless you or what the hell did you do that for, ha-ha if it's somebody you are familiar with of course.
