Evolution eliminates gay gene?
If there IS a gay gene, wouldn't billions of years of evolution have made this trait extinct, since homosexuals can't procreate.
Therefore, if there ISN'T a gay gene, is homosexuality a lifestyle choice?

First, sexual orientation isn't an either/or proposition. Some of the research done in this field, particularly Kinsey, indicates that we're bisexual shades of gray. Sexual orientation, by this hypothesis, is measured on a scale from completely straight to completely gay with various degrees of bisexuality in between (bicurious straight, bisexual-straight, bisexual, bisexual-gay, etc). Personally, I suspect that the God's-eye view of human sexuality would look like a weighted bell-curve with most of the population leaning toward the straight side but I'll await further data if anymore research is done.
Second, you're committing the logical falacy of false dichotemy. Your apparent thinking is that either there is a gay gene OR it's a lifestyle choice. Some of the research on male homosexuality indicates it may have to do with conditions in the mother's womb. Others think that it may be a polygenetic trait.
Third, just because a gene isn't conducive to reproduction doesn't mean that natural selection necessarily wipes it out. There are recessive genes that can dodge natural selection.
Fourth, the jury isn't out among reputable psychologists regarding sexual orientation. The evidence clearly shows it's in our nature, not our nurture. We still await the findings as to the exact cause but self-determination has been ruled out.
Fifth, I question whether or not homosexuality even constitutes a distinct "lifestyle" never mind a "choice". I'm married to the love of my life who happens to be a woman. Some would say I've chosen the "heterosexual lifestyle" but I don't think of it that way. What if the power of God were to transform her into a man? Would I be living the "gay lifestyle"? What would be different?
To contrast with what I do consider a "lifestyle", we're married and in a monogamous relationship (as opposed to the life I had when I was single and lived alone). Here, there's a great distinction that calls for the label "lifestyle". I share my home with another, for example. Married vs. single is a lifestyle distinction. Gay vs. straight is a matter of how much lube you buy.
you've raised some good points.
sounds like there's interesting and ongoing scientific investigation into this topic from different angles.
In your gay-bashin bible video, you refute the fundichristian, slippery-slope comparison of homosexuality to pedophila, by correctly pointing out that one is between consenting adults, whilst the other is non-consensual as a child's mind is not developed enough to give proper consent. Fine.
Maybe legislaters and policy makers in the U.K. and Spain over the last generation similarly thought that whatever occurs between consenting adults should be decriminalised, before proceeding to legalise gay marriage.
But,
does that make prostitution more acceptable because it is also consensual?

You tell me.
Is there a logical reason why prostitution should be illegal?
It's not illegal in MANY places. Including some places in the USA.
People *MAKE* it illegal over purely religious moral grounds rather than logical socitey based morality.
And you know my thoughts on Morality... it will differ from person to person and society plays a large part in shaping "Collective" morals.
While I personally think it's a dangerous practice (Due to those folks who lack any sort of moral fiber and abuse, torture, kill etc... who make a habit of targetng the prosititute for an easy victim)
I think if it were not ILLEGAL, these women (and men) could form proper brothels with security and you'd see much healthier practices follow. Similar to Abortion... they are going to have them whether the religious right likes it or not and I as a woman would rather not see ladies with coat hangers again.)
That's over simplified, but you get my "drift". Make it "above board" it gets regulated, safer, cleaner and the economy benefits.
And well frankly, people are much happier after getting laid too. Win! Win!

Legalising prostitution would make it safer, but the safest solution is no prostitution at all. The reason being that in practice, people that purchase sex are not of a sound mind and in doing so often cheat on their spouses. Also, the vast majority of prostitutes seem unhappy and/or use class A drugs. (I apologise to members of these two groups reading this message if I'm being judgemental, but this is what I've picked up along the way, and I am open to being corrected if i'm wrong.)
Legalising prostitution would increase its volume, and increase misery.
