Hey, I just wanted to wish a hearty "Happy Birthday" to Thomas Paine today.....one of my heroes! Have a beer or a brandy in his honor today!

The patron saint of Deism, in a manner of speaking. Atheists seem to love him too, though they tend to gloss over the deism or view it as a byproduct of his time. Happy Birthday indeed, Mr. Paine. How many years has it been since his birth, I wonder?

I suppose he would be 272 years old now...born in 1737. Trivia...this year is the 200th anniversary of his death. A lot of Christians will probably want to "celebrate" that one.
